2019 Judges

We are thrilled to announce the 2019 judges for The Mighty Nose Awards!

Nicky Cox is Editor in Chief of First News, the national newspaper for young people that reaches 2 million readers a week. Nearly half the of schools in the UK subscribe to making First News the widest-read publication for children in the UK. Since then, Nicky has launched First News TV, online video content for kids, including a daily weather forecast & news bulletin for readers, made with Sky News.

Actor Richard E. Grant is one of our best-loved performers. Since making his acting debut in 1987 in Withnail and I, he has starred in over 80 movies and is currently filming Star Wars: Episode IX. His many TV appearances include Game of Thrones and Dr Who. Richard has also written a number of books and has appeared in many theatre productions, most recently the part of Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady.

Rob Starling began doodling creatures and characters at primary school and hasn't stopped since. He lives and works in Norfolk, and when he's not sketching up new characters or writing down stories he can be found walking with his wife and dog under the big Norfolk skies, sculpting models, brewing coffee, or foraging in the kitchen for cake.By day, he is a primary school teacher.  “Fergal is Fuming” is his first picture book.

Keilly Swift is a childrens editor and author. She has worked in publishing for nearly twenty years and is currently Managing Editor at First News. Keilly aims to help children make sense of the world and their place in it, both through First News and in her own writing. Her work has a light-hearted and accessible style, often exploring themes of acceptance and the celebration of difference. Her rhyming picture book, The Tigon and the Liger, was published in 2016 and has been shortlisted for a number of awards, including the Sheffield Children’s Book Award 2017. Keilly also writes for inclusive theatre company, Chickenshed, and loves seeing their talented team bring her work to life on stage.
